RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE
US COLOMBIA TRADE PROMOTION AGREEMENT
The undersigned President of the
World Trade Center Miami, a Florida not-for-profit organization, do hereby
certify that the following resolution was duly adopted
at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the WTCM (the “Board”),
duly called and held in Miami, Florida on March 27, 2008 in which meeting
a quorum was present and acting throughout:
WHEREAS, the President has asked the United States Congress to consider and
support the US Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement in an effort to promote
economic growth and create opportunities that enhance trade, eliminate tariffs
and embolden our Colombian neighbors; and
WHEREAS, Colombia is the fifth most significant export destination for the
State of Florida and the third largest market in Latin America and is well-positioned
in a free market to bolster trade, investment, tourism and cultural activities;
and
WHEREAS, the government of Colombia has worked tirelessly over the past six
years to become a model of fiscal, social and economic policy, while significantly
reducing narcotics activity, labor strife and human rights violations, all
of which will be further advanced by the passage of the US Colombia Trade
Promotion Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the World Trade Center
Miami possesses a unique vantage point in the emerging hemispheric free
trade area, leading to advantages for our businesses
by creating a level playing field on export products that are critical
for Florida’s economy; and
WHEREAS, the World Trade Center Miami, for many reasons, believe it to be
in the best interest of our business community and the relationship between
our two great countries that the US Congress bring forward and pass the US
Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement.
NOW BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the World Trade Center Miami hereby supports
and endorses the US Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, The undersigned have executed this Resolution effective
as of April 10, 2008.
