8:30 AM to 12:30 PM Importing Food Products: Complying with FDA and U.S. Customs Rules
Between 10% and 15% of all food consumed in the U.S. households is imported from abroad, including 66% of all fruits and vegetables, 80% of seafood, 50% of all medical devices, and 80% of active pharmaceutical ingredients. These imports arrive in the U.S. from more than 300,000 facilities in 150 countries, and the amount of food products imported is expected to increase by 10% in the coming years. New legislation and enforcement procedures from Washington, D.C. is changing the way that food products may be legally imported to the U.S., and importers need to be aware of these changes to remain competitive. The law firm of Becker & Poliakoff, P.A. will offer practical information vital to understanding U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) rules for bringing food products into the U.S.
