AND V ANNUAL AWARDS LUNCHEON
International Women’s Day has been celebrated by the United Nations
since 1975. The UN’s annual commemoration serves to focus attention
on the rights of women around the world. Also, it highlights women’s
issues globally and focuses on their achievements.
Beginning in 2004, the World Trade Center Miami established International
Women’s
Day to honor women executives in Florida whose achievements have advanced the
promotion of free trade and international business in the Americas. More than
400 international executives/media have attended the event annually.
For the 2008 celebration, a half-day conference has been added to precede the
luncheon to focus on the opportunities and challenges faced by women in Florida’ international
business community.
