Free Trade Area Of The Americas
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the World Trade Center Miami, Inc. is fully committed to ensure
that Miami-Dade County, Florida remains the multi-cultural and economic
capital of the hemisphere and the “Gateway to the Americas”;
and
WHEREAS, the World Trade Center Miami, Inc. endeavors to create the best
possible conditions for international trade in Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, the World Trade Center Miami, Inc. understands that the United
States is working to reach an agreement to create a 34-nation Free Trade
Area of the Americas (“FTAA”) that will provide substantial
benefits to the business community and citizens of Miami-Dade County and
South Florida; and
WHEREAS, the World Trade Center Miami, Inc. understands that the government
of the United States is also striving to bring the Permanent Secretariat
of the FTAA to the United States; and
WHEREAS, the World Trade Center Miami, Inc. understands that Miami-Dade
County, with its central location, multicultural character and international
trade focus, is the best location for the Permanent Secretariat of the
FTAA, and that bringing the Permanent Secretariat of the FTAA to Miami-Dade
County, Florida will greatly enhance the international status of Miami-Dade
County and South Florida and will create new jobs, relocate business and
increase travel to the city, county and state; and
WHEREAS, the World Trade Center Miami, Inc. supports all efforts to bring
the Permanent Secretariat of the FTAA to Miami;
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS
RESOLVED, that the World Trade Center Miami, Inc. pledges its full support
for the location of the Permanent Secretariat of the FTAA to be in Miami,
upon completion of the FTAA negotiations; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the World Trade Center Miami, Inc. will support
the efforts of Florida FTAA, Inc., to bring the Permanent Secretariat of
the FTAA to Miami, and
FUTHER RESOLVED, that the World Trade Center Miami, Inc. will take all
necessary actions to support the hosting of the Permanent Secretariat of
the FTAA in Miami, Florida.
